Happy Face crater :)

A 'remake' of a famous NASA photo of this crater that seems to smile when the sun is low at sunset. The crater lays on the eastern ridge of the large Agyre Crater. Made for the German magazine GEO.

Hellas Planitia

The Planitia is 1600 km across, 8180 meters deep.

In the north the eroded volcano Hadriaca Patera lays on the rim of the bassin, and from north to south the large valleys Dao, Niger and Harmakhis Vallis were once shaped by water coming from the Hesperia Planum..

From left to right:
The Ares Vallis, the Tiu and Simud Vallis and the Xanthe Terra with the Shalbatana Vallis.

The large crater between the Ares and Tiu Vallis is the Carl Sagan Crater.

Gorgonum Crater

Some ice and frozen CO2 is covering the landscape.

In the middle the Gorgonum Chaos. The small canyon which appear from the left to the right is the Sirenum Fossae.

An ancient 'icy' overhead view of the Aram Chaos Crater (right), with the outflow to the Ares Vallis  at the right. At the left of the large crater the Tiu and Simud Vallis, the outflow canals of the Valles Marineris with the so called 'chaotic terrains'.
